Wes Streeting
Wes Streeting, a politician, thinks that the laws over hate speech should be weakened.
Graham Linehan was arrested at Heathrow because he incited violence. I won’t link to anything he’s written because it’s generally pretty vile, but here is what he wrote:
If a trans-identified male is in a female-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails punch him in the balls.
In other words, it is OK to hit trans women.
Wes Streeting, apparently, thinks arresting people for saying things like this is excessive. Well, let’s try some variations
If a self-identified Christian is in your mosque, they are committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails punch them.
or
If a self-identified policitican is in your house, they are committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails punch them.
or
If Wes Streeting is in your house, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and if all else fails punch him in the balls.
Wes Streeting would not have a problem with people saying any of these things, I suppose.
Oh, he would? How very surprising that is! I mean, he could not possibly be saying that hate speech directed against certain groups is OK, but not when it is directed at others? Of course not, what a silly idea.
Note. The final three made-up quotes are used to make a point. Nobody should punch anyone else, OK?
